About ICR

The International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) is based in Guovdageaidnu / Kautokeino in the heart of Sami reindeer husbandry in Norwar and was established in 2005 with an international board of reindeer herders and others from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.

ICR aims to be a  knowledge base for providing and exchanging information and documentation between different reindeer peoples, authorities, researchers at the national and international levels and the general public. ICR will thus contribute to adding value, improving information and enhancing understanding for world reindeer husbandry and reindeer peoples, their traditional knowledge and future development. Information and dissemination will be conducted visually, in written form and electronically.

The Centre is funded by the government Norway and various project monies. ICR is also the secretariat for the Association of World Reindeer Herders. You can visit ICR’s homepage at www.reindeerportal.org
