World Environment Day was launched in Tromsø today, and IPY IPO Director David Carlsen was a keynote speaker where he chose from the hundreds of IPY projects the EALÁT project as one of IPY highlights. He also showed a short interview with World Reindeer Herders Association Secretary General Johan Mathis Turi which highlighted the importance of indigenous knowledge in adapting to climate change. ICR organised a display of the Sophus Tromholdt photographs at the University of Tromsø – you can see pictures on the EALÁT website, which was attended by the Rector of the University of Tromsø, Jarle Årbakke. The event also marked the launch of the Global Outlook for Ice and Snow.
