Sakhalin II, Another LNG Bonanza..
Yamal is not the only place with reindeer where herders have to come to terms with Oil and Gas development. On the Eastern coast of Russia is the controversial Sakhalin II development – a massive LNG development that was signed up in murky circumstances ten years ago when Russia was bankrupt. Now, Russia has regained its confidence and some financial muscle under Putin and with Gazprom signed on, the future development of Sakhalin is gaining pace.
